What Color Uniform Did The Ninja Wear?

So what color uniform did the ninja wear when they were out on a night mission?

Well no one knows for certain. As the ninja were a secretive bunch. However we do have clues from our modern ninja brethren. Some say black while others say a deep red ninja uniform. The black would be worn on moonless nights and the red or deep blue would be worn on nights when there wa s a moon or more light.

It is said the red blends in with the surroundings better because it does not contrast with the surroundings as where the black will stand out more.

And then there are some who say that the ninja would wear whatever would help them blend into the enviornemnt or local people.

My best guess would be that the ninja would wear different clothing based on the mission and the time of day the mission was to be carried out.

What Gear Did The Ninja Use?

Here is a question that has perplexed historians for many years. This is hard to answer as the ninja were a secretive group and rarely did they record anything. Most techniques and ideas were passed down by word of mouth. But a few things are for certain.
They did use:

1. a sword http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ninjat%C5%8D
2. stars
3. blow darts
4. just about anything else that would get their mission completed

Okay that last answer was pretty vague but it is the truth. The ninja would grab and use whatever was able to help them achieve their goals. I have heard of them using all sorts of climbing equipment too! (where to see the climbing gear http://www.realninjagear.com/ninja/climbing-equipment/ ) So how did they use this stuff to climb a wall? Well in ancient Japan all castles were made of wood. So it made it easier (I don't want to say easy!) to climb and scale these walls.

They would use a grappling hook and hand hooks (commonly known as hand claws) and foot spikes that they would tie to their shoes. Each of these tools would dig 1nto the wood helping them scale the wall.
